WEDDING SHOULDN’T BE THIS HARD — WE’RE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT

06.01.25

After nearly two decades rooted in the worlds of gathering, design, and film, stepping into weddings wasn’t just a business expansion—it was a love story of its own. We entered this space the same way many of our couples do: with excitement, creativity, and an intention to celebrate love in a way that feels personal and authentic. But what we’ve discovered along the way is that the traditional wedding industry complex isn’t built for that.

The truth is, we’re not a legacy wedding venue owned by a real estate developer with a portfolio of properties. We’re a neighborhood business. We built our space ourselves—no design firm, no big-name contractors. Our team lives in the same neighborhoods as our clients. And we care, deeply, about the kind of experience they have when they choose to celebrate their most important moments with us.

But here’s what we’ve learned: The wedding industry is unnecessarily complicated. The lack of transparency in pricing. The overwhelming process of juggling multiple vendors. The mental gymnastics of trying to “Tetris” together a budget that constantly feels like it's slipping through your fingers. So many of our couples aren’t working with full-service planners from the start. In an effort to stretch their budget, they’re DIYing their dream wedding while juggling full-time jobs—then bringing in a day-of coordinator during the final stretch, when most of the big decisions are already locked in. By that point, it’s too late to fix what isn’t working. Suddenly, they’ve become de facto event planners, trying to navigate an industry full of gatekeeping, unclear costs, and conflicting information.

Frankly, we hate it. And we know our clients do too.

We’re tired of watching couples shoulder all the logistics—coordinating countless vendors, interpreting bloated quotes, and making high-stakes decisions without clear support. We’re a small team running a big, beautiful space, and no one knows how to make the most of it like we do. We’ve designed hundreds of experiences for corporate brands and production clients—and we’re bringing that same thoughtful, high-design, high-function approach to weddings.

That’s why we’re hitting pause on wedding bookings while we rebuild the entire program.

We’re designing a new full-service wedding model that takes the guesswork out of planning and allows you to price your entire celebration from the start. No hidden fees, no surprise invoices, no last-minute vendor scrambles. Just a clear, streamlined path to planning a joyful, gorgeous, and stress-reduced wedding i—with a team that’s truly on your side.

Because planning your wedding should feel like the celebration it is—not an exhausting, confusing maze of decisions and markups.

This isn’t just about weddings. It’s about values. About staying nimble in a shifting economy. About being transparent, personal, and local. About doing things differently because we can. And because we believe that when you know better, you build better.

So that’s what we’re doing. Building better—for you, and with you.

More soon,
The Shell’s Loft Team ♥️
