Where Design Meets Community
Shell’s Loft began over 15 years ago in Clinton Hill with a simple mission: to create beautiful, welcoming spaces where people come together. With a little luck (and a lot of hustle) in one of the toughest real estate markets in the world, we could not have imagined how it would evolve into the design-forward, community-centered space we now call home in Fort Greene.
With the help of early platforms like Airbnb, our underground hospitality hustle grew into something much bigger. Our team is rooted in the spirit of building community through food, design, and plants. Lots of plants — our obsession with biophilic design is woven into every corner of our lofts.
We designed the space to feel like an expansive living room — the kind of home New Yorkers dream of, big enough to host 100+ of their favorite people. Here, we set the tone for gathering in style and comfort, surrounded by our lush mini-forest in the heart of a city that often feels fast and isolating.

Meet the team
Shell Martinez | Co-Owner
Born in the Bronx, raised in California, and now based in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, Shell is a world traveler and self-proclaimed design obsessive with over two decades of experience. Her career blends a deep love for design with a passion for hospitality, creating spaces that inspire connection and leave a lasting impact. Whether collaborating with filmmakers, event planners, or private clients, Shell brings bold vision and thoughtful detail to every project—continually pushing boundaries and redefining what’s possible in the industry.
JEREMY SAMPLE | Co-Owner
With more than 2 decades in the film industry, 140+ film and television credits, Jeremy has earned his reputation as a masterful Stunt Coordinator and Performer. His work spans a range of high-profile projects, including Selma, Joker, Jack Ryan, Black Panther, Daredevil, and Penguin. In 2022, Jeremy brought his expertise behind the camera to Shell’s Loft, joining as Co-Owner and Shoot Project Manager, where he continues to support productions with precision, professionalism, and a deep understanding of what crews need to succeed.

EVENTS MANAGER
With over 20 years in hospitality, Mario is our secret weapon—someone who can charm even the toughest guests without breaking a sweat. A seasoned pro with a genuine passion for making people feel at home, Mario thrives in the fast-paced, ever-evolving world of events and productions. He’s calm under pressure, endlessly kind, and brings unmatched efficiency to everything we do.
DEAN HOGARTH
OPERATIONS MANAGER
Industrial designer and passionate plant enthusiast, Dean has been part of Shell’s Loft from the very beginning, and officially became Operations Manager and resident plant daddy in 2023. With a sharp eye for both form and function, he leads all of our thoughtful in-house designs—from custom planters to seamless event setups. If you love the greenery here, you’ve got Dean (and his plants) to thank.
VICKY LE
PROJECT MANAGER
If you hear “streamline” or “workflow,” it’s probably Vicky. With a background in both engineering and film, she’s our systems whisperer—equal parts logic and creativity. A true doer in a world of dreamers, she brings big ideas to life—keeping our content, marketing, and team synergy on point while consistently championing best practices. Also: our anti-food waste, pro-baked goods girlboss.
